The Cleanest Classroom

Each month, Mr. Clean selects the cleanest classroom of the month and they get to hold onto this very cool trophy for a month, until it is time to select another clean classroom.  Well, we have been making sure all of our scraps were picked up, our chairs pushed in and crayons put away each day before we leave, and wouldn't you know it, our efforts paid off!!

We were the cleanest classroom in the ENTIRE school for the month of November!!  This trophy is now residing very happily upon our shelf right there next to the globe in the background of the picture until the end of December.

Way to go, first grade friends!!  You should be very proud of all of you hard work . . . I know I sure am!!

Stone Soup

The day of our Stone Soup Celebration was a busy one!!  It started with a little soup making, followed by butter making and then a little pumpkin pie making. 

Yes, we made our own butter!!  We made two batches by pouring one pint of heavy whipping cream in to canning jars and shook, shook, shook unitl we had our butter!  It was sure yummy on our rolls!

I didn't get pictures of the soup making, or the pumpkin pie making (we were a little busy!!), but here are a few pictures of great friends enjoying a great feast!

Today was our first field trip of first grade! 

Mr. Peters from Community Transit, along with his friend Bus Driver Karen, came and taught us all about these cool white, black and blue buses we see all around town.  We even got to ride on a giant bendy bus all through town!
