Spooky Math

Halloween wouldn't be Halloween without a little spooky math!  Today we sorted "bones" and graphed our data . . . we are quite the mathematicians as you can see below!

Today was our first field trip of first grade! 

Mr. Peters from Community Transit, along with his friend Bus Driver Karen, came and taught us all about these cool white, black and blue buses we see all around town.  We even got to ride on a giant bendy bus all through town!

Fire Prevention Week

This week is Fire Prevention Week!  In addition to reading all sorts of great books about Firefighters and preventing fire, the Monroe Fire Department visited us this morning to teach us all abut what to do if ever there is a fire in our house!  It was a very fun surprise this morning.  Each student will be bringing home a worksheet to help your family create an evacuation plan just in case.  Be sure to take a few minutes to go go over this with your student and then don't forget to check your fire alarm batteries!

On Saturday October 9th the Monroe Fire Department will be hosting an open house.  There will be all sorts of activities for all family members to participate in.  What a great fall family activity!

Computer Lab Friday

Every Friday morning, right before lunch, we head to the computer lab!!  This was only our second trip to the computer lab and we were able to log in and make it to our classroom website!  Pretty impressive! The computer lab is definitely one of the highlights of first grade so far!
